San Marcos High School FFA

What is the National FFA Association?

Because of its multi-faceted structure, FFA
members face a continuing challenge from the
public and news media when asked, "What do
the letters FFA stand for?" or "What is FFA?"
The FFA stands for "Future Farmers of America"
and we are a group of students that are dedicated
to serve and develop quality leadership skills.
The following was developed by the National
FFA Organization and approved in January
2002 by the board of directors. When providing
information to the general public and media in
news releases, brochures, Website postings or
general conversation.

What our Chapter is up to:

Our advisor, Mr. Rob Gaebe, teaches multiple classes that include : Introduction to Agriculture,
Animal Science, Vet Science, Agriculture Biology, Floral Design, and Ag. Mechanics. For after school, he teaches dedicated students how to raise, care for, and sell pigs, lambs, goats, poultry, steers, plants, and numerous other projects.
At this time, our advisor is working diligently to plan a new facility that will be replacing the current agriculture farm, which is long overdue for replacement. We are planning that with this new facility to gain more members from other high schools in the district.
Also during this time, we have been advertising our Agriculture program to the local middle schools, in order to try to involve the incoming freshman to be interested in our program.
The month of May is a very busy month for us. To start the month off, we have our Vegetable Crops Judging team heading to Cal Poly San Luis Obisbo for state judging finals. Then, we are also hosting the San Diego Section Project Competition Banquet on May 5th. On May 15th, we are having a joint youth fair with Escondido FFA. Also during this month, we have one student who will be competing for the San Diego Section Secretary position.
We are also preping for the San Diego County Fair.
