Nutrition Services Removes All Polystyrene from Their Waste Stream

 

SAN MARCOS, CALIFORNIA, February, 19th, 2013 – Western Recycling Technologies, a women-owned waste reduction and recycling company founded in 2012, has combined it’s staff’s personal interests in responsible ecology with an expertise in waste reduction and recycling of all Polystyrene (Styrofoam).

Co-founder Robert Cargeeg states, “We have taken extensive steps to reduce our company’s carbon footprint and are educating our clients on the environmentally friendly options available to them. Western Recycling Technologies strives to educate Schools, Hospitals, and Corporations on the benefits of waste reduction”.

Thermo Compactor The Cafeterias create over 50% of all waste in these facilities, by educating and providing waste reduction equipment these facilities are now able to reduce the entire waste stream coming out of the Cafeteria by up to 95%.

The disposal of Polystyrene is a major problem for many sectors of industry due to the volume to weight ratio of the material being unfavorable for economic transportation after use. In many applications Polystyrene is the best materials for packaging and protecting food far better than many alternative products. Despite the suitability of polystyrene for a wide variety of applications, organizations are faced with the growing problem of finding alternative methods of disposing of large volumes of waste packaging. Thermo Compaction is a new and viable method of treating this complex waste stream while saving money.

San Marcos Unified School District has been utilizing this program for 8 months and has saved the Landfills from over 4500 bags of trash, they are educating the children in waste preservation, and making a large impact on our environment, and saving money in waste disposal costs.
