  • Department Responsibilities 

    The Accounting and Payroll departments manage the District’s budget, accounts receivable and payable, general ledger, fixed assets and payroll activities. They develop, monitor and update all District program budgets and prepares all state and federal reports for general fund and categorical program activities. The office directly supports all District schools and departments. Finance and Accounting is also responsible for the successful preparation of District accounting records for the annual audit.

     

    Department Goals

    To provide accurate record keeping to assure that we maximize the District’s assets and to operate in a manner that ensures compliance with all Local, State and Federal regulations that impact the financial status of the District. Our focus is to provide the Administration and the Governing Board with the most accurate and timely financial data to support educational decisions for the District’s children. Our major areas of responsibility include: Budgeting, Payroll,Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Analysis, Reporting and General Accounting. 
  • A San Diego County native, David earned his degree in Political Science from San Diego State University and holds graduate degrees in Finance and Accounting. He spent the first eight years of his professional career in commercial banking and the next eight years as Chief Financial Officer of a small family-owned corporation involved in public and private construction projects.
     
    In 1998, David was hired by the San Diego County Office of Education as the Business Manager for the Regional Occupational Programs. In 2008, he moved to the position of Executive Director of Finance and Accounting at San Marcos Unified School District. David enjoys spending his free time with his family.

    Payroll Check Availability 

    SEPTEMBER 29, 2017

    • All Employee Payroll Checks (no direct deposit paystubs) will be available at the District Office's Payroll Department on Friday September 29, 2017 from 8am - 4:30pm
    • Direct Deposit Paystubs are only available ONLINE
    • Payroll checks will not be mailed and will be held until claimed or other arrangement have been made with Payroll by the employee 

    Address Change

    If your address on your Payroll Warrant envelope is NOT your current address, please complete a Change in Personnel Payroll Records form, and submit it to Payroll.
