    Residential and Commercial Developer Fee Summary

    Fee information for developers and property owners within the
    San Marcos Unified School District attendance area.
    The following is our current summary of Residential and Commercial Fees:

    Residential Dwelling Unit Fee (Level 2) ... $4.61 per square foot

    Commercial / Industrial Fee .. $0.56 per square foot

    If your project is a subdivision or housing tract, please submit an approved parcel map and a phasing sheet with the following information for each unit:

    1. Street Address

    2. Lot or Unit Number

    3. Assessor Parcel Number

    4. Assessable Square Feet

    Fees can be paid at the Facilities office located at 255 Pico Avenue, Suite 100, San Marcos, CA 92069 between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. An appointment is recommended. Please call (760) 290-2649 to schedule an appointment.

    Level 2 Residential Fees became effective on May 17, 2017 and will be effective for one year from that date or when a new School Facilities Needs Analysis is adopted by the Governing Board, whichever comes first.

    Commercial / Industrial fees are effective as of July 17, 2016 at the $0.56 per square foot rate.

    Note: Due to periodic fee schedule changes, applicants should verify current fee rates prior to applying for building permits. Please call the number above for updated information.

    Collection of school fees is authorized pursuant to Education Code Section 17620 and Government Code Section 65995. The applicable provisions of law that specifically govern the levy of school fees are available upon request.
