The San Marcos Unified School District's Transportation Department contains a state of the art Vehicle Repair Facility.  The Lead Mechanic, Miguel Trujillo, is responsible for Vehicle Maintenance, Specialty Equipment Maintenance (small engine grounds equipment), Tire & Towing and point of contact for vehicle accident processing.  Miguel is also responsible for the impeccable maintenance of 72 school buses ensuring the certification of the semi-annual California Highway Patrol Vehicle inspections.

The district mechanics ensure the safety, reliability, and maintenance for the district's 150 vehicles.  These vehicles consist of school buses used to transport our students, service vans and trucks used by M&O - Grounds and Warehouse Departments, refrigerated trucks used by Child Nutrition Services, and sedans used by the Facility and Technology Departments.  The mechanics also service and repair the Ground's equipment consisting of over 75 pieces of machinery, including riding and push lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and golf carts. The San Marcos Unified School District Transportation Department's in-house Vehicle Repair Facility results in quick turnaround time and immeasurable savings to the District.
