I am the Assistant Principal at San Elijo Middle School and I supervise students whose surnames begin with N - Z. A few words about me professionally and personally...
I am a fourth generation San Diego native. My great-grandmother moved to San Diego in the late 1800's. My parents both attended San Diego State University. I also attended SDSU where I received my BA, MA and my Administrative Credential. During my student teaching, I was in search of a growing bilingual community and I discovered San Marcos Unified! I am a fluent Spanish speaker, so I wanted to work with Hispanic families. I began my teaching career in 1986 as a bilingual teacher at San Marcos Elementary, where I taught third, fifth and sixth grades for seven years. I was picked up by the principal at Paloma Elementary when it opened and I taught sixth grade for five years. Because I enjoyed the older students, I transferred to Woodland Park Middle School where I taught for one year and then became a teacher on special assignment who coordinated a community reading program for students. I then became the Assistant Principal at WPMS where I remained for sixteen years and I loved everyday! Four years ago I arrived to SEMS and I am thrilled! I love being an Assistant Principal because I am able to interact with staff, students and parents on a daily basis. I continue to have a passion for learning and quality instruction.
I live very close to Torrey Pines High School and I have two fabulous boys (Christopher, age 22 and Michael, age 21). Chris just graduated from UCSB studying Bio-Chemistry and now he is applying to medical schools with hopes of becoming a doctor; Michael is a professional video gamer for Cloud9 (Bunny FuFuu). I also have three dogs named Ruby, LeBron and Casey!
Please communicate with me at anytime via email, phone call or you are always welcome to visit me in person! I am here for our students, staff and parents! I look forward to another exciting school year at San Elijo Middle School!
