Welcome, I'm excited to teach your student the fundamentals and to assist
your student to obtain their goal(s) in a career choice of working in the fire service.

Hello, my name Randy Meers, I’m a Fire Technology Instructor for Mission Hills High School. My previous employment was serving 34 years with the North County Fire Protection District. I have worked several ranks in the fire service from firefighter to chief officer to include fire Instructor with California State Fire Training and certified state fire investigator.

The Fire Technology course is designed to give students an introduction to the fire service.  It is a two year program for which students are able to earn college credits from Palomar College. Throughout the course of this program, students will be introduced to a variety of topics within the fire service.  These topics include, but are not limited to, the following: History and philosophy of fire protection, career opportunities in related fields, basic fire chemistry and physics; introduction to fire protection systems, physical fitness for the fire service, strategy and tactics, emergency scene operations, first aid and CPR.

All students will be provided with an informative and interactive learning environment.  Students will be expected to complete a variety of written and oral speaking assignments as well as manipulative skills. Students will also be expected to promote a safe, respectful, professional learning environment and to maintain high ethical standards.

Please feel free to email me for any questions regarding the program or your student.
    Thank you,
