I am very eager to meet my new students for the 2017-2018 school year!
We will be learning letter names and sounds, sight words, reading, writing, learning science and social studies, as well as counting, recognizing/writing numbers, counting, shapes, and other mathematical concepts. We have so many fun games to help make learning a pleasant experience.
The basics about Ms. Fisk:
I was born in Los Angeles County, but my family actually lived in Eureka, California at the time. Before I was seven, we had moved to Peoria, Illinois (where I lived on two different farms), Grand Junction, Colorado, and back to Southern California.
I've lived in the Escondido/San Marcos area since I was seven. I attended San Marcos Junior High, San Marcos High School, Palomar College, and Cal State University, at San Marcos. I did both semesters of my student teaching here, at Paloma Elementary.
In November of 2000, I got hired as a Kindergarten teacher at Paloma.
For the 2012-2013 school year, I was a second grade teacher, but the majority of my career has been spent in Kindergarten.
I have literally known, for my entire life, that I am MEANT to teach the youngest students.
It gives me joy, it brings me peace, it fulfills me, and it is SO MUCH FUN! :)
I am very excited to be teaching my third year of TK. I truly enjoy teaching the foundations, the building blocks of reading and math.
In May of 2017, I began working towards my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. This is a non-stop, online program, which will last for just over one year. I am thrilled to learn more about how to teach these youngest learners. I cannot wait to put my continued schooling to use in the classroom!
I am very much a family-oriented person. In my free time, I love to hang out with my family and friends. I also love to read (and read...and read...and read...), write, color, and watch movies. I enjoy nature, and sitting in a park with a good book is one of my favorite ways to read. I am a big science-fiction fan (both Star Trek and Star Wars), and I also enjoy comedies.
