Gabriella Gomez began her teaching career in 1984 teaching at the high school and middle school levels for seven years. She joined our district in 1991 as a teacher at Alvin Dunn, Discovery, and San Marcos Elementary. She served eight years as an Instructional Support Specialist and Intervention Specialist before beginning her administrative role at San Marcos Elementary as an assistant principal. She then served as principal of Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary for six years before coming to the district office as Director of Language Learner Resource Center and now as Director of Elementary Education.
Gabriella received her bachelors and teaching credential in both general and special education from the Pennsylvania State University and her masters from Wilkes-University.
The Elementary Education department supports the curriculum and instruction for the twelve elementary sites in the San Marcos Unified School District in order for students to achieve the state standards. In collaboration with teachers, we have developed timelines, instructional materials, and assessments to ensure all students receive a guaranteed viable curriculum. In addition, we provide ongoing professional development for our teachers to prepare them to deliver 21st Century learning in the classroom.
