• CAHSEE July Test Suspended • Changes Being Considered

The July 2015 administration of the CAHSEE exam has been suspended by the California Department of Education pending action by the state legislature.  The State Senate and Assembly are considering AB 172 which will suspend the CAHSEE as a graduation requirement beginning with the Class of 2015.  The intention of the bill is to allow the Department of Education the opportunity to develop a new criteria for a graduation assessment better aligned to the new state standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics.
Students from the Class of 2015 who have not passed the CAHSEE will be advised as soon as more information is available.  Should the bill pass, there will be provisions to award diplomas to students.  You will be contacted by SMUSD Secondary Education Director, Melissa Hunt, with more information as soon as it is available.
