Heat Illness Prevention & Safety
PRACTICE HEAT SAFETY!
During times of “Excessive Heat Warnings”, your body’s ability to cool itself is challenging.  Extreme hot and humid conditions can result in heat-related illness if precautions and safety measures are not taken.  Training & educating yourself is the number one proactive approach to PREVENTING heat illness.
Prevention
- Drink 4 cups of water an hour
- Have access to shade to cool down
- Take time to acclimate to new conditions
- Take Heat Illness Training available on Keenan Safe Schools
- Know how to respond to heat-related emergencies
Care for Victims of Heat-Related Illness
- Move the victim out of the sun, to a cool shaded location
