Project Scope:
A $28.2 million Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Project has been undertaken by the District in partnership with ENGIE Services, U.S., Inc., a leader in the net-zero energy transition. The project, which began in the spring of 2023, is a significant milestone in the district's commitment to green initiatives and fiscal responsibility. The initiative's comprehensive scope includes several key components aimed at providing a greener and healthier environment for students, staff, and the community.
LED Lighting Retrofits
- Interior and exterior LED lighting retrofits have been completed across the entire District to improve energy efficiency.
Solar Installations

San Marcos High School: Five new solar arrays were installed.

District Office: The installation also included a roof-mounted solar array and a 58 kW DC canopy structure solar array. Inaddition a roof replacement and HVAC mechanical replacement of cooling and heating equipment.

Transportation Yard: Two solar power arrays were installed over the existing bus yard parking lot, Phase 1.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations installed at the Transportation Yard
- The District has installed 40 Level 2 electric charging stations to promote sustainable transportation and reduce emissions. Phase 1
Lighting and egress enhancements at Mission Hills HIgh
- Installation of lighting and egress enhancements have been made to the football field and track
